The Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) has presented its Outstanding Educator Award to three Illinois college and university accounting faculty members as part of its 2021 awards program.

Each year, ICPAS’ Outstanding Educator Award celebrates educators who have made significant contributions to the education of accounting students through their leadership, teaching excellence, and active involvement in the accounting profession.

“It’s so rewarding to recognize the efforts of the educators who demonstrate selfless dedication to helping their students prepare for success in life and work,” says Todd Shapiro, ICPAS president and CEO. “We know that college and university educators are important influencers when students are deciding whether or not to pursue the CPA credential, so we owe great thanks to these individuals who help support a strong pipeline of talent for the CPA profession through their teaching and mentorship.”

The following honorees will be formally recognized at ICPAS’ Leadership Recognition and Awards Dinner on Aug. 5, 2021.

  • Justyna Koc, CPA, CGMA, MBA – Koc is a member of the accounting faculty at Triton College, a two-year community college in River Grove, Ill., where she also serves as an advisor to the Triton College Accounting Club and chair of the Online Education and Technology Committee. Washington Wylie Internship Preparation, and Student Ambassador programs, and is regarded for helping them prepare for successful transfers to four-year institutions. Koc, who emigrated to the United States when she was 18 years old, had to learn English, acclimate to American culture, and find employment—obstacles she often shares with her students to inspire them. Koc is an ICPAS member. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from National Louis University in Chicago.
