The Illinois CPA Society recently hosted more than 170 accounting students from colleges and universities across the state at its Jumpstart to Accounting program. The annual event provides students exclusive access to advice and connections to help them launch successful accounting and finance careers.

“It’s very exciting to see so many students taking advantage of this great opportunity designed to prepare them for bright futures,” said Illinois CPA Society President and CEO, Todd Shapiro. “The valuable takeaways from this program help students prepare and stand out when it comes to competing for entry-level accounting positions and internships.”

During the single-day program in Chicago, participants learned about building their personal brands from career coaches, met with recruiters, toured area accounting firms, and received tips for creating online profiles on LinkedIn. They also spent time with current young professionals who shared insights and information about various career paths and what to expect on the job.

The Illinois CPA Society, with more than 24,600 members, is one of the largest state CPA societies in the nation. Our mission is dedicated to enhancing the value of the CPA profession through the strategic initiatives of advocacy, information, education, and connections.
