From the January 2006 Tax Season Survival Guide
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Internal Revenue Service recently redesigned its web site at www.irs.gov, so professionals who routinely use it as a resource during tax season should get re-acquainted with the site prior to the tax season rush.
The new design provides users with an interface designed around their role, whether as a tax professional, or as an individual, business or nonprofit filer. Other roles include members of government entities, and the retirement and tax exempt bond communities. Sub-groups within the roles provide more specialized access, including specific pages for Enrolled Agents, Enrolled Actuaries and E-File providers.
The new web site design provides easy access to most requested forms and publications, online tools, featured content, links to IRS news and general information, and other items, as well as the continued ability to search current and prior-year forms and documents.
