Nearly 700 CPAs came together across Illinois to make a difference in their communities during the Illinois CPA Society’s 17th annual CPA Day of Service held on Sept. 18.
So far, 675 volunteers have taken part in a wide variety of charitable and community service activities in support of the causes and communities they care about, and additional volunteer activities are still planned throughout the fall.
Helping at animal shelters and food banks, building homes for families in need, supporting access to bedding and home gardening, and providing accounting and tax services were just some of the activities that provided much-needed support to the organizations, nonprofits, and individuals the volunteers spent their time with.

“This annual experience demonstrates the meaningful impact and difference our members and their colleagues can make when they come together in service of others,” Geoffrey Brown, president and CEO of the Illinois CPA Society. “We’re thankful to everyone who contributed their time and talents to the CPA Day of Service this year, and we’re proud of the CPA community’s continued commitment to giving back and leading by example.”
Among the many organizations supported by large groups of CPA Day of Service volunteers this year were:
- Chicago Grows Food
- Feed My Starving Children
- Glenwood Academy
- Greater Chicago Food Depository
- Habitat for Humanity
- Lambs Farm
- Loaves and Fishes
- Midwest Food Bank
- Northern Illinois Food Bank
- Phil’s Friends
- Phoenix Foundation
- Sleep in Heavenly Peace
