Lancaster, PA-based Trout CPA, an INSIDE Public Accounting top 200 firm, has acquired Schiff & Associates, an accounting firm in Towson, MD, that specializes in services for dental practices.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Trout CPA now has 180 team members, including 21 partners.
As part of the transition, the firm’s dental advisory practice will operate under the name Schiff Dental CPAs by Trout CPA.
This is Trout CPA’s first M&A deal in 2026. Its last was in January 2020 when Trout acquired Greenawalt & Co., an accounting firm with offices in Mechanicsburg and Carlisle, PA.
Trout says the acquisition strengthens its dental advisory practice and expands its presence across the Mid-Atlantic region. The move also enables Trout to bring its comprehensive accounting, tax, and advisory services to clients across multiple industries in Maryland.

Founded in 2006, Schiff & Associates has specialized in providing accounting, tax, and advisory services to dental practices across Maryland, Virginia, and beyond.
