Jen Cryder, CEO of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, was recently honored with the John P. McLean Leadership Award from the University of Scranton.
Named after an esteemed professor and business scholar at the university, the award recognizes accounting professionals who have blazed a path forward for others in the profession.
Cryder received the award during the Accounting Celebration at the university’s campus on April 30, 2026.
“Technology is reshaping the possibilities for our profession, enabling today’s accountants to step into new, more strategic roles,” Cryder said in a statement. “This moment calls for all of us to prepare the next generation to lead with innovation, adaptability, and purpose. I’m honored to be recognized by an institution committed to that mission, and I look forward to continuing to champion my colleagues and support University of Scranton students as they enter a rapidly evolving field and help redefine the future of accounting.”
Cryder joined the PICPA as CFO and vice president and was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer before being named CEO in 2021. She is the first woman to serve as chief executive in the organization’s history.
A thought leader in the accounting space, Cryder shares her insights on trends, challenges, and opportunities in the industry, and has participated in interviews for a wide range of media outlets. She has consistently been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Accounting by Accounting Today since 2023 and was named one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Most Influential CEOs.
Cryder earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Temple University and a master’s degree (Business Administration, Taxation) from Drexel University.
