The Illinois CPA Society’s (ICPAS) will host its Not-for-Profit Symposium on June 4, 2026, at the Gleacher Conference Center in Chicago, followed by a virtual half-day learning experience on June 5, bringing together professionals working within not-for-profit (NFP) organizations and those who advise and support the sector.
The in-person experience will focus on today’s most pressing financial, regulatory, governance, and operational issues, along with valuable opportunities to connect with peers and industry professionals. The following day virtual program, The NFP Reporting Playbook, features sessions focused on practical accounting and reporting topics.
Centered around the theme, “Navigating Trends, Defining the Future,” the symposium brings multiple perspectives together through 13 sessions covering issues relevant to any NFP organization today, including emerging risks and opportunities, tax issues and IRS developments, investment strategies for volatile markets, debt refinancing, multistate charitable governance, practical artificial intelligence applications, and navigating politically sensitive environments.
Sessions will be led by speakers and panelists from respected accounting, consulting, financial, and law firms, public agencies, and NFP organizations, including the Illinois and Ohio attorneys general offices, Fiducient, The Nonprofit Planner, Society of Actuaries, Moore Tax Law Group, CLA, CohnReznick, Crowe, EY, Sikich, and others.
Designed for CEOs, CFOs, controllers, and other accounting and finance teams from foundations and associations, along with auditors, attorneys, consultants, and other specialists working with NFPs, the symposium offers actionable takeaways they can apply right away.
Currently, event sponsors include Aprio, Brilliant, First Bank Chicago, First Nonprofit, Paychex, and networking reception sponsor GRF CPAs & Advisors.
“Illinois and the Chicago region are home to a vibrant not-for-profit community, along with the professionals who steward their financial strength, compliance, and mission focus,” says Geoffrey Brown, CAE, President and CEO of the Illinois CPA Society. “This symposium is designed to bring those practitioners together for timely and relevant insights, practical strategies, and meaningful professional connections they can use right away.”
Attendees may earn up to 8 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credit, including 7 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) credit. The June 5 virtual half-day offers an additional 4 hours of CPE credit. For more information or to register, visit www.icpas.org/nfps.
