Campfire Introduces Ember Agents for Accounting Teams

Ember Agents are described as "accounting teammates who handle the manual, reoccurring work you don't want to do: transaction matching, reconciliation, AP/AR, flux analysis, close prep, and more."

San Francisco-based AI-native ERP company Campfire recently launched Ember Agents, a suite of AI agents for finance and accounting teams.

Ember Agents are described as “accounting teammates who handle the manual, reoccurring work you don’t want to do: transaction matching, reconciliation, AP/AR, flux analysis, close prep, and more.”

In a March 12 blog post, Campfire CEO and founder John Glasgow wrote:

Ember Agents are AI workers that run inside Campfire as the newest members of your team. Some run continuously in the background. Others run on demand when you need them.

Continuous agents handle the work that never stops: matching bank transactions to GL entries, processing AP and AR, flagging anomalies, monitoring for duplicate invoices and miscoded accounts, managing accruals. They work 24/7 without being triggered. Your team sees the output, reviews what needs review, and approves before anything posts.

On-Demand agents handle the work that happens on a schedule: period-over-period flux analysis, close prep, board reporting. You set them up once. They get added to your monthly close checklist and run the same way every period. Consistent, attributed, and ready to export.

Every agent action is logged, sourced to the underlying GL data, and reviewable before it posts. Nothing is a black box. Just like any other member of your team, they work where you work with our Slack and integrations for updates and approvals.

John Glasgow

Ember Agents launches with a full suite of agents across accounts payable, accounts receivable, transaction matching and categorization, transaction and accounting policy monitoring, accruals management, and flux analysis.

On-Demand agents integrate directly into your monthly close checklist. Every agent surfaces findings in Slack or email so your team stays informed without having to log in, Glasgow wrote.

He added:

Accounting teams are being asked to do more with less. Headcount is harder to justify. The close cycle has to compress. The CFO needs answers faster than the team can pull them.

The answer is not more headcount. It’s not more spreadsheets. It’s not a general-purpose AI that does not understand a debit.

The teams we work with are not trying to replace their accountants. They’re trying to give their accounting team back the hours that have been consumed by work that should not require them. Matching transactions. Building accrual schedules. Running the same flux analysis every month.

When those hours come back, the accounting team becomes something different. Not a cost center catching up on close. A strategic function with time to drive value across the business.

For users who are running accounting on Campfire, Ember Agents are available in beta in your account today.
