Top 50 accounting firm Doeren Mayhew has made its third M&A deal in 2026 acquiring Berman Hopkins, an INSIDE Public Accounting top 300 firm with offices in Orlando and Melbourne, FL.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

As a result of the acquisition, Troy, MI-based Doeren Mayhew adds nearly 100 employees to its roster, including nine principals to its leadership team. Christopher McDirmit will continue leading the central Florida offices as managing principal, while the remaining former partners, including Jason Berry, Sean Cedar, Agnes Gregory, Joseph Jones, Justin Knox, Jason Miller, Laura Anne Pray, and Steven Rivera, join the firm’s leadership team as principals.

The acquired firm will now operate under Doeren Mayhew’s alternative practice structure, including Doeren Mayhew Assurance and Doeren Mayhew Advisors.

In addition to its deal with Berman Hopkins, Doeren Mayhew acquired 1RDG, a Rochester, NY-based advisory firm, in January and Birmingham, AL-based CPA firm Dent Moses and its affiliate, Impact Technology Group, last month.

Doeren Mayhew received an infusion of outside capital in August 2024 by selling a stake to Audax Private Equity.

The accounting firm said at the time that the investment will allow it to broaden its geographic footprint via continued acquisitions, as well as to enhance its service offerings, technology infrastructure, and overall employee and client experience.

Doeren Mayhew completed 13 M&A deals in 2025. The acquisition of Berman Hopkins is Doeren Mayhew’s second Florida transaction in the past year and eighth in the Southeast.
