The Tennessee Society of CPAs (TSCPA) recently hosted members from across the state at the Capitol for the society’s annual Day on the Hill event. Throughout the day, TSCPA members met with legislators to discuss issues of importance to the CPA profession in Tennessee.
In their meetings with legislators, participants expressed TSCPA’s thanks to the General Assembly for its support of the Less is More Act of 2025. The act instituted an additional pathway to CPA licensure and established Tennessee as a leader in broadening access to the CPA profession. Participants also showed TSCPA’s support for HB 0477/SB 0032, a bill being led by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce regarding tax rules for bonus depreciation.
Throughout the day, participants met with over 30 legislators, including Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton, Government Operations Committee Chair Justin Lafferty, House Majority Leader William Lamberth and Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson. Additionally, the group met with Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury Jason Mumpower, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Revenue David Gerregano, and Deputy Director of the Tennessee Comptroller & Division of Investigations Christy Tennant.
This is the fourth year TSCPA has held its Day on the Hill event in Nashville. For more information on the event or on TSCPA’s advocacy work, email tscpa@tscpa.com or call 615- 377-3825.
