Recent Career Highlights
Over the past year, Dr. Stein Smith has continued to establish himself as the leading voice at the intersection of blockchain, cryptoassets, and accounting. He has published extensively through his weekly Forbes Digital Assets column, providing timely analysis of U.S. crypto policy shifts, IRS regulatory developments, and the growing convergence of traditional finance and tokenized assets.
He released an updated second edition of his Springer-published book, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Financial Services, and continues to develop and deliver continuing education courses on AI, cryptoassets, and blockchain. Additionally, Sean recently released a co-authored textbook with McGraw-Hill, Survey of Fintech, diving into accounting issues related to blockchain, crypto, and AI.

Dr. Stein Smith is deeply committed to elevating the accounting profession’s understanding of emerging technologies. Through his extensive written and speaking engagements with the NJCPA he has built a robust community of CPAs engaged with innovation. He develops and delivers free and low-cost educational programming for state societies, universities, and regulatory bodies, ensuring practitioners at every level can access knowledge about crypto, AI, and blockchain.
His weekly Forbes column reaches a broad public audience, demystifying complex financial technology topics and advocating for thoughtful, informed policy, bridging the gap between the accounting profession and the broader public conversation.
