A woman who was an account at a college in South Carolina was recently arrested for taking money from the public institution for her personal benefit, according to the state Law Enforcement Division.
On Feb. 19, Jessica Marie Holman was charged with financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud (value more than $500 in a six-month period), SLED said Tuesday in a news release.
The 47-year-old Barnwell County resident was booked into the Bamberg County Detention Center, according to the release.
Between 2024 and 2025, Holman worked at Denmark Technical College as a senior accounting manager, an affidavit shows.
In that role, Holman was “entrusted with the proper dispersion of state funds,” according to the affidavit.
During that time, Holman took a state gas card that she used 55 times to buy $3,671.54 worth of gasoline for her personal vehicle, the affidavit said.
Holman also used other employees PINs to make the gas purchases, according to the affidavit.
The South Carolina Office of Inspector General asked SLED to lead an investigation.
During that investigation, Holman was identified on multiple gas station surveillance videos, the affidavit said.
Information about Holman’s bond was not available, but she will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
