Perkins Coie has announced that Mohsen Ghazi has joined the firm’s Private Client Services practice as a partner in Chicago.
Mohsen counsels family offices, fund sponsors, and high net worth clients on structuring tax-advantaged funds and family offices in the United States and abroad. He also advises clients on forming, launching, and managing investment funds—including private equity, real estate, credit, and alternative assets. Mohsen’s approach combines institutional fund structuring with private wealth tax planning to achieve cross-border tax optimization, regulatory compliance, and long-term wealth strategy.
“Amid ongoing economic and regulatory uncertainty, today’s high net worth individuals are in need of forward-looking tax counsel centered around family office structuring, fund structuring, and cross-border estate planning,” said Stephanie Loomis-Price, chair of the firm’s Private Client Services practice. “Mohsen’s fluency in domestic and international tax matters, as well as private funds’ most pressing legal issues, will be invaluable to our team and clients alike.”
Mohsen brings a wide range of fund structuring experience, such as real estate investment trusts, qualified opportunity zone funds, insurance-dedicated investment structures, and cross-border feeder funds designed to address complex tax considerations for institutional investors and private clients. He regularly advises on income tax planning for high net worth individuals and offers deep knowledge in corporate transactional tax matters and partnership tax, both within the United States and internationally.
“Mohsen’s entrepreneurial and innovative mindset is a perfect complement for our team,” said John Schreiner, Chicago office managing partner. “Those attributes, combined with his skillset in family office structuring and tax matters, further positions Perkins Coie as a leading private client services firm in Chicago and nationally.”
Mohsen previously served as partner in the tax practice of an international firm. Prior to that, he was deputy general counsel at a multifamily office and private capital platform for ultra-high net worth individuals, where he led tax, securities, and product structuring for open- and closed-end investment vehicles. Mohsen began his legal career as an associate in the tax practice of another leading law firm.
“I’m thrilled to join Perkins Coie and look forward to working alongside the Private Client Services team, especially on complex, cross-border tax matters affecting high net worth individuals,” Mohsen said. “The firm’s global platform is the ideal place to grow my practice.”
Mohsen earned his Bachelor of Arts from Kalamazoo College and his Juris Doctorate degree from University of Michigan Law School.
