Top 60 accounting firm Prager Metis announced that Lori Roth has been named CEO and Stuart Mayer has been named chief operating officer, effective Jan. 1.
Roth had been co-managing partner of Prager Metis along with Glenn Friedman, who in 2013 as managing partner of Metis Group merged with Prager & Fenton to form the current-day firm. According to Friedman’s bio, he is currently the firm’s chairman of the board as well as an advisory services partner.
“With this leadership team in place, we are well-positioned to execute our long-term strategy and elevate our operational capabilities,” Friedman said in a statement. “Both Lori and Stu’s leadership have been central to our firm’s growth, and we are confident they will guide Prager Metis into our next chapter with clarity, discipline, and vision.”

As chief executive, Roth will provide leadership and strategic planning to more than 100 partners and principals and 600 team members, and she will also oversee the firm’s growth strategy and initiatives. In this role, Roth will develop strategic goals and policies while monitoring performance and driving business growth.
According to her bio, Roth has been in the accounting industry since 1984, specializing in audit and assurance services, litigation support, and business valuations. She has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including closely held businesses, real estate, and the U.S. subsidiaries of foreign banks and corporations. Roth has international expertise, particularly with companies headquartered in Israel.
Her expertise includes working as a neutral accountant—either court-appointed or hired as a joint expert by either parties or their attorneys. Roth has served as a business valuator and impartial financial consultant in issues pertaining to support and equitable distribution. She has been involved in matrimonial cases, as a certified divorce mediator, as well as shareholder disputes, corporate dissolutions, estate situations, and business acquisitions.
She previously served as global managing partner of Prager Metis CPAs and Prager Metis International, and formerly served on the firm’s executive committee.

As COO, Mayer will oversee daily operations across the firm, ensuring that strategic plans are implemented effectively. He will also drive continuous improvement in workflows, service delivery, and internal systems to enhance productivity and profitability, the firm said in a media release.
Mayer previously served as Northeast regional managing partner and executive committee member for Prager Metis.

Prager Metis, which has more than 100 partners and principals, over 600 team members, and 24 offices worldwide, had U.S. revenue of $128.9 million during its most recent fiscal year, according to INSIDE Public Accounting.
