Thomson Reuters announced this week several strategic partnerships providing audit professionals with best-of-breed capabilities that complement and enhance Thomson Reuters Cloud Audit Suite and Audit Intelligence solutions.

The new partnerships with Trullion, Audit Sight, Crunchafi, Fieldguide, Validis, and Valid8 Financial support automated, data-driven audits, Thomson Reuters says.

Thomson Reuters says it’s expanding its audit ecosystem through in-house product development and strategic partnerships. The company is combining its PPC methodology—used by approximately 16,000 accounting firms in the U.S.—with its agentic AI CoCounsel platform, Cloud Audit Suite, and Audit Intelligence. In addition, Thomson Reuters’ open partnership ecosystem brings customers best-of-breed solutions, harnessing the innovation of multiple vendors “to make PPC the most automated methodology in the profession while ensuring firms remain protected by accepted auditing standards,” the company added.

Dave Wyle

“For decades, firms have relied on Thomson Reuters PPC methodology as the gold standard for audit quality, and our vision for AI in auditing starts from that foundation,” Dave Wyle, general manager of audit at Thomson Reuters, said in a statement on Dec. 1. By embedding PPC directly into Guided Assurance and partnering with AI innovators, we’re automating key steps of the methodology itself—not changing it—so firms can move faster and gain efficiency while staying grounded in the trusted frameworks that support peer review and regulatory scrutiny. Our goal is to meet firms where they are, giving them the flexibility to adopt the automation strategy that best fits their needs.”

Trullion, Audit Sight, and Crunchafi

These strategic partnerships enhance Thomson Reuters Guided Assurance—part of Cloud Audit Suite—with integrations to Trullion, Audit Sight, and Crunchafi. Users can apply Thomson Reuters PPC methodology to automate key procedures and seamlessly document their work end-to-end, all within Guided Assurance.

  • Trullion: Automating financial statement review procedures: The Trullion integration brings AI-native automation to financial statement review and testing. Auditors can run automated procedures that reference the correct audit guidance at every step, with full traceability back to Thomson Reuters PPC methodology—ensuring work is streamlined, consistently documented, and aligned with professional standards.
  • Audit Sight: Automating substantive analytics to reduce testing: With the integration of Audit Sight, by aligning automated results with Thomson Reuters PPC methodology, procedures can be automatically eliminated when transactions are verified, enabling auditors to focus on complex estimates where judgment is needed. Manual testing of routine transactions can reduce by more than 50%, while confidence increases through full population checks at scale.
  • Crunchafi: Automating lease procedures: The integration of Crunchafi brings seamless lease accounting automation directly into existing PPC‑based workflows, eliminating the burden of manual lease calculations while preserving firms’ established methodology. Designed to automate entire procedures rather than isolated tasks, Crunchafi streamlines complex lease accounting audit steps to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.

Fieldguide

Thomson Reuters has partnered with Fieldguide to embed Guided Assurance—which delivers PPC methodology—directly into the company’s agentic AI platform. With access to all 27 industry packs, this gives accounting firms a connected environment where trusted PPC content and AI agents work together to execute engagements. PPC guidance is interpreted alongside client evidence in real time, enabling dynamic risk assessments, adaptive audit programs, and AI-driven workflows that complete repeatable steps without manual intervention, Thomson Reuters said.

“Firms are under pressure to do more with less. They need trusted methodology and AI agents that work the way they do. By embedding Thomson Reuters PPC methodology into our platform, we’re helping firms deliver higher quality work with more consistency and less effort. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to the future of the profession,” said Jin Chang, co-founder and CEO of Fieldguide.

Validis and Valid8 Financial

Audit Intelligence Analyze, developed in partnership with Validis, uses AI and machine learning to focus testing on high-risk areas, segment populations by risk, and reduce the number of items to be tested, while advanced anomaly detection flags unusual items and generates required documentation. Integrated Validis data ingestion powers these capabilities by seamlessly pulling client trial balance, general ledger, and subledger data into existing workflows.

Audit Intelligence Test, developed with Valid8 Financial, automates matching and documentation of samples to supporting evidence, and dynamically traces transactions to banking activity to quickly confirm occurrence. Technology traditionally used in advisory, forensic, and financial crime work is now available within an integrated audit workflow, helping firms standardize procedures, streamline evidence gathering, and substantially reduce manual testing time.
