Registration is now open for an upcoming webcast that will provide a semiannual update on the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) standard-setting activities pertaining to private companies and not-for-profit organizations. The webinar, FASB Update for Private Companies and Not-for-Profit Organizations, will take place on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:05 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Participants in the live broadcast will be eligible for up to 2.5 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit. While registration is not limited, attendance is limited to the first one thousand individuals that log on. (CPE credit is not available for group viewing of the live broadcast.)
The webcast will feature FASB Member Joyce Joseph, FASB Technical Director Jackson Day, PCC Chair Jere Shawver, FASB Senior Project Advisor Jeff Mechanick, FASB Supervising Project Manager Jenifer Wyss, FASB Practice Fellow Ashley Allen, and FASB Postgraduate Technical Assistants Cristina Kappmeyer and Sam Steigenberger.
Areas expected to be covered include:
- Overview and matters related to the FASB’s current agenda, the status of certain projects, and the 2025 agenda consultation
- Private Company Council (PCC) projects, agenda priority process, and other activities
- Update on leases and credit losses post-implementation review (PIR) activities
- Recent discussions of the FASB’s Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee (NAC)
- Update on certain technical agenda projects, such as the accounting for and disclosure of software costs, accounting for government grants, initial measurement of paid-in-kind dividends on equity-classified preferred stock, and accounting for debt exchanges
- Update on certain research projects, including digital assets, the accounting for and disclosure of intangibles, and financial key performance indicators for business entities
- Audience question-and-answer session.
An archive of the webcast will be available on the FASB website after the live event. (CPE credit will not be available to those who view only the archived webcast.)
