State CPA Society News & Updates is a selection of recent announcements and initiatives by CPA associations in the United States and its territories.
The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) has opened registration for its annual conference addressing forensic accounting, business valuation and litigation support, the Forensic and Valuation Services Conference.
The Forensic and Valuation Services Conference will take place Oct. 21-23. The conference will be held at TSCPA’s headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition to the in-person option, the conference will also be offered virtually and on demand to accommodate more participants. Those who choose to attend live virtually or decide to purchase the on-demand package will receive the same high-quality continuing education content as participants attending in person.

The Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) has opened registration for its annual golf outing, which will take place on Friday, September 19, 2025. Member and non-member prices are $95 and will take place at the Ironwood Golf Course in Sussex, Wisconsin. Check out the event page for more information and to register for the event.
The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYCPA) has opened registration for its Healthcare Conference, which will take place on September 18, 2025. Member early bird pricing, which is good through August 28, is $349 for members and $469 for non-members, with regular pricing $379 for members and $499 for non-members. The Oklahoma Society of CPAs (OSCPA) hosted its 107th Annual Members Meeting on June 23, 2025. One of the highlights was the introduction of Josh Elder, CPA, who was officially welcomed as the new Board Chair. The following accounting professionals were also honored.

The Iowa Society of CPAs (ISCPA) recently opened registration for the ISCPA Circle of Excellence Awards, which celebrate the achievements of ISCPA members. The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) recently announced that Karen Lake, CPA, CFST, began her tenure as the 98th Chair of the FICPA on July 1, 2025.
Lake is a Director of Tax Services at Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors + CPAs, where she leads the firm’s State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. With experience in a Big 4 public accounting firms, a corporate tax department, and as a state auditor, she understands the full range of tax issues most businesses face. She is the third member of Berkowitz Pollack Brant to serve as FICPA Chair, joining Richard Berkowitz (2005-06) and Ken Strauss (2013-14).
A member of the FICPA for the last 25 years, Karen has served on the FICPA Board of Directors (2018-19, 2023-present), the FICPA Council (2021-2023) and previously chaired the FICPA’s State Tax Committee, Corporate Finance Committee and South Florida Accounting Conference Committee. In 2020, she was recipient of the FICPA’s Women to Watch Experienced Leader Award, recognizing her significant contributions to the CPA profession. As Chair, Lake will be supported by the FICPA Board of Directors and Council members listed below.
