Top 30 accounting firm Aprio said on Tuesday that it has expanded its Financial Services practice and deepened its presence in the greater Boston area by acquiring Sandler & Co. PC, a boutique CPA firm based in Needham Heights, MA, effective July 1.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. As part of the acquisition, Sandler & Co. Managing Partner Don Sandler and his team of nine professionals have joined Aprio.
This latest acquisition is part of Atlanta-based Aprio’s broader national growth strategy, which was ramped up after the accounting firm received private equity backing from Boston-based investment firm Charlesbank Capital Partners a little more than a year ago. In addition to expanding in the Boston area, Aprio has recently grown its footprint in key markets including Washington, D.C., Chicago, Austin, Denver, Baltimore, and California.

By bringing Sandler & Co. into the fold, Aprio doubles its financial services capabilities and enhances the Financial Services practice’s ability to provide audit, tax, and advisory solutions to hedge funds, real estate funds, private equity firms, broker-dealers, investment advisors, and other regulated entities.

Founded in 1991, Sandler & Co. provides tailored audit, tax, and advisory services to clients in the financial services sector. The accounting firm’s experience spans year-end audits, tax structuring and compliance, surprise custody examinations, and quarterly performance reviews.
