The Trump Administration is proposing the combination of the departments of Education and Labor.

According to the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday night (June 20) that the proposed merger would be part of a larger reorganization of the federal departments that President Trump has planned.

Changers to cabinet level departments requires Congressional action, which may be questionable in an election year.

An official announcement from the White House is expected on Thursday morning.

Education Week reported that the president’s focus is on eliminating “unnecessary agencies, components of agencies, and programs, and merge functions.”
