I’m the CEO and founder of Instead, the first company in decades to receive full IRS e-file approvals, including Forms 1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, and 1065, along with approvals across all state and local jurisdictions. That cleared the path to build something the industry didn’t have: one AI Agent where tax professionals manage every aspect of tax end-to-end, from planning and strategy through filing and compliance.
Since founding Instead in 2023, we’ve combined AI with tax law to make tax management a continuous, proactive process rather than a reactive one. We’ve helped tax professionals and their clients save an estimated $5 billion in taxes, generating millions in new advisory revenue for the firms we work with. Our team has grown to over 250 people, with investors and talent drawn from Gusto, Intuit, Thomson Reuters, PwC, BDO, and KPMG.”
What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?
I attend the AI Symposium and AICPA Roundtable through CPA.com every year, along with AICPA Engage, BDO Alliance, IRIS Inspire, Digital CPA, and similar forums. My focus is practical: helping tax professionals understand how AI is reshaping advisory practice and giving them a real path to make that transition.
I’ve been named to CPA Practice Advisor’s 20 Under 40 list multiple times and was a 2024 Innovation Award Finalist. The profession is moving away from compliance-only work — I want every firm to have the tools and confidence to move with it.”
