Past Year
This past year I think the highlights have all been when I am spending time speaking with accountants — both on stage and in smaller, informal conversations — and seeing the shift when people realize that a well-crafted prompt can fundamentally change the quality of AI output. That moment, when all the ideas flood in on the dimension of the possible has been especially rewarding.
Engagement
Much of my outreach beyond my own organization has happened through speaking engagements, panels, and informal discussions with accountants across the profession. What I’ve found most valuable isn’t delivering polished messages, but creating space for honest conversations about how AI actually fits into day-to-day work.
There, the discussion usually broadens into practical ideas, questions, and experimentation. That ongoing dialogue — helping people move from uncertainty to possibility — has been the most meaningful part of my engagement with the wider accounting community.
Publications
I regularly read CPA Practice Advisor, Accounting Today, and the Journal of Accountancy to stay current on issues directly affecting the profession. I also spend time following news and commentary from adjacent fields, particularly technology, law, and banking. Watching how other industries respond to emerging tools and regulation often provides early signals about where accounting is headed and what the downstream implications might be.
