Seminar Gives Accountants Tips for Making the Most of Web-Based Services

PLEASANTON, CA – Taking advantage of modern online technologies is critical to the success of accounting and business consulting practices, but that means much more than just having a Website, according to technology and business experts. Keeping up with these technologies, however, can often be a challenge for small and mid-sized professional practices.

That’s why The Sleeter Group has announced a seminar that’s focused on helping these types of business consultants make the most out of online technologies, hosted applications and Web-based services to provide improved client service and boost their own bottom line.

The all-day seminar, scheduled for July 20 in Pleasanton, California, is approved for 8 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credit and is called, “Taking Your Clients Online: Transforming Your Client Relationships Using Cloud Computing.” It will also be offered later in the summer at locations across the U.S., providing a focus on how accountants can successfully move their clients to online applications. It includes practical advice that attendees can start using on day one. Specific topics include:

  • Using portals for sharing data and files between consultant and client
  • Offering successful remote consulting services
  • Security considerations
  • How professionals and their clients can “rent” the software they use
  • How ASP (hosted) accounting programs can improve a practice
  • Difference between ASP and SaaS

“Web-based programs and other online technologies are becoming more and more important to the success of accounting professionals, but keeping up with the latest solutions can be challenging for them because they are primarily focused on running their own practices and managing client issues,” said Doug Sleeter, president and founder of The Sleeter Group, the largest network of small business technology experts in the nation.

“This new one-day seminar is tailored specifically to their needs, letting them know them which solutions are the best-of-breed, how to use them, how to encourage and support their clients’ use of the technologies, and how moving into this paradigm will directly help them improve their productivity and efficiency, resulting in greater profits.”

The educational events will be led by Sleeter and other educators and professionals, including Darren Root, CPA.CITP, a practicing accountant and technology thought leader in the accounting profession who speaks at more than 60 conferences, tradeshows and events each year. Root is also the Executive Editor of The CPA Technology Advisor, a technology information resource for the profession.

“Taking Your Clients Online” will be held in the San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Los Angeles metro areas starting in late July, with pricing starting at $159.
