How do you envision the accounting profession evolving in the foreseeable future for women?

The evolution is already happening, we have made a lot of progress in advancing opportunities for women in recent years, but we cannot rest on our laurels. I envision even more efforts to encourage, promote, and sponsor more women to pursue and advance in the profession. Firms that do not embrace progress and leadership initiatives to help women grow within the profession will indeed be left behind.

What advice would you give to women college students about preparing for a career in the accounting profession?

Start now. You have all the resources to succeed in a career in accounting in the classroom. Build your skills, from communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; these are highly valued skills in the accounting profession. Take relevant coursework in accounting and finance, participate in internship programs, listen to experts in the field and begin to build your professional network by attending professional events.

How would you advise accounting firms on how they can better attract, retain, and advance more women?

Firms can implement flexible work policies and promote gender-neutral programs, including mentorship and sponsorship opportunities for women. The tone at the top is essential, so complete leadership adaptation is also necessary. They can advance more women by championing bias-free leadership opportunities, and they should take more proactive steps to close the gender pay gap.

What is your favorite professional mobile app, and why?

I prefer to avoid professional mobile apps to manage business activities. However, I use Driversnote to manage mileage and Foreceipt to manage receipts.

What do you like to do when you have _me away from work?

I love to travel. During this year’s busy season, I visited Thailand, Laos, and South Korea. I love exploring new places and meeting new people. Locally, I enjoy running and taking _me off to see a play or attend a concert.
