How do you envision the accounting profession evolving in the foreseeable future for women?

With the increased emphasis on diversity, I envision more opportunities for flexibility that will allow women to manage home and caregiving responsibilities and the demands of a rewarding career. As a result of this flexibility, I see increased representation of women in leadership in the accounting profession.

What advice would you give to women college students about preparing for a career in the accounting profession?

Network, which is making connections and building relationships. Your network will be vital in identifying and securing future opportunities. I would also add focus on improving and refining your soft skills. With the rapid speed of technology changing how lls such as empathy, creativity, and communication will be more critica

How would you advise accounting firms on how they can better attract, retain, and advance more women?

I would advise accounting firms to develop and promote female leaders by providing mentorship and sponsorship programs. In addition offering competitive benefits such as parental leave, onsite childcare, childcare backup programs, and flexible work arrangements.

What is your favorite professional mobile app, and why?

I am an avid LinkedIn user. It is a great way to connect with other professionals, showcase my brand, stay abreast of the latest industry news and trends, and improve and refine my skills with LinkedIn Learning.

What do you like to do when you have time away from work?

I enjoy traveling, volunteering, reading, spending time with my family, and watching my Washington Commanders!
