Career highlights: 

I began my career at PwC in 2011. I moved to Chile and co-founded Bright!Tax, a boutique US tax firm with a vision to serve American clients around the world remotely by harnessing the power of new online technologies. Bright!Tax has since won five global Emma awards for excellence as an expat tax provider and financial services innovation, and has grown to a team of more than 40 located in 30 countries serving over 10,000 American clients in over 200 countries.

As a leading expert in US taxes for Americans living overseas, I am a regular contributor to both Forbes and Fast Company and I have  appeared as a guest-expert on various global tax webinars and podcasts including for International Living Magazine, American Citizens Abroad, and Democrats Abroad.

    What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?

    • Chair of the Bright!Tax US Global Scholar Initiative – over the last 6 years, the Bright!Tax Global Scholar Initiative has supported 11 exceptional young Americans realize the dream of pursuing studies abroad in diverse fields from Anglo-Saxon archeology to health technology and predictive engineering for future self-driving cars. My professional journey was inspired by my study abroad experience, and it is my passion to give others the same opportunity.

    • Ongoing pro-bono tax support for Americans living overseas

    What do you like best about the accounting profession?

    The accounting profession has allowed me to meet and make a difference in the lives of thousands of American expats around the world, which has been a humbling and deeply rewarding experience. Every American who sets off to live overseas is a courageous, pioneering visionary with an incredible story to tell, filled with adventures and challenges. The ability to meet and support fascinating people in all corners of the globe is inspiring, exhilarating, and empowering.
