PB Mares Names Two New Partners

PBMares, LLP, a Top 100 accounting and consulting firm based in Newport News, VA, elected two new tax partners to the Firm. Ronald H. Pachino and Tracey Powell were each promoted to Partner, effective January 1, 2021.

Pachino has nearly 36 years of experience, the past five with PBMares, in advising clients who are navigating tax and accounting laws and regulations, business valuations of closely held companies, and financial statement preparation in the commercial and residential construction, development, distribution, retail, hospitality and government sectors.

Pachino is secretary of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) forensic and valuation services committee and board member of Congregation Ohr Hatorah. Mr. Pachino is a graduate of Towson University and received his MBA from Loyola University Maryland. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and MACPA.

Powell has 32 years of experience in public accounting and has been with PBMares since 2019.  Her focus has been advising clients on ever-changing tax regulations and how they can navigate these financial complexities to improve and grow their businesses.

Powell is a double graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, having received Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Science in Taxation degrees. She is a member of the AICPA, MACPA, Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA), and Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP).

Both are based in the Baltimore area and Powell also works in the Firm’s Rockville office.

National Association of Tax Professionals Hires New Chapter Program Manager

The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) welcomes new Chapter Program Manager, Cynthia Jackson, to its national staff. In her role, Jackson oversees 41 active NATP state chapters and supports chapter leaders in their efforts to provide local members timely education, resources and networking opportunities.

Jackson joins the NATP team with more than 15 years of previous association experience in chapter leadership, fiscal management, volunteer management and strategic planning.

Originally from Colorado, Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver and a master’s degree in business administration from Regis University in Denver. She also has two professional certificates from the American Society of Association Executives.

Reputation Promotes Shannon Nash to Chief Financial Officer

Reputation, the global leader in reputation experience management (RXM), recently announced the promotion of Shannon Nash, CPA, Esq., to Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, Nash will elevate the organization’s financial performance and exponential growth trajectory through a leadership style that emphasizes process, innovation and teamwork. She previously served as Reputation’s Chief Accounting Officer.

Nash brings both a deep knowledge of the business along with more than 20 years of financial leadership to this role. Prior to joining Reputation, Nash served as CFO at Insidesource, where she built a first-class finance team and led the company through a financial restructuring, resulting in a two-year 75 percent growth in operating margin and 50 percent sales growth over two years. In addition to her work with Reputation, Nash was recently appointed to the board of directors and the audit committee at UserTesting, a leading provider of on-demand human insights.
