The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) has awarded a total of $120,000 to recipients of its Two-Year Transfer Scholarship. The scholarship is given each year to exemplary students transferring from a two-year college to a four-year college or university to finish their accounting degrees. Twenty-four students will receive $5,000 each toward their tuition.
“For many students, community college is a pathway to the accounting profession,” said Joanne Fiore, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants vice president of professional media, academic and student engagement. “The Two-Year Transfer Scholarship award recognizes promising students who aspire to join the profession and helps them in the process by providing resources and guidance as they work toward becoming a CPA.”
By offering open admission and lower costs, community colleges make higher education possible for millions of American students each year. Community colleges also provide a pathway for many students into four-year institutions, giving them an opportunity to earn bachelor’s degrees and enter professions such as accounting.
To be eligible for the Two-Year Transfer Scholarship, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and intend to major in accounting or a related field at their four-year school. A task force comprised of AICPA Student Recruitment Committee members and CPA volunteers selects the recipients based on academic excellence, leadership skills, volunteerism and overall commitment to becoming a licensed CPA. Recipients also become Student Affiliate Members of the AICPA.
The 2018-19 AICPA Foundation Two-Year Transfer Scholarship award recipients are listed below in alphabetical order along with the two-year college they transferred from and the four-year college they are currently attending:

The Two-Year Transfer Scholarship award is part of the AICPA’s Legacy Scholarships program. In 2018-19, AICPA Legacy Scholarship awards have provided $686,000 to 145 deserving accounting students.
