From the March 2017 review of Invoice Management systems.

Sage 50c Accounting from Sage Software combines features of a desktop and cloud accounting software system, providing easy accessibility and the ability to install the product on local computer desktops. Sage 50c is also scalable, available in three versions that can work well for the sole entrepreneur as well as the growing small business. Sage 50c offers complete accounting functionality in its core product, as well as access to Payroll and HR modules as well.

Sage 50c allows users to easily create custom quotes for customers for both products and services. The user interface can be completely customized by the user so that only applicable tasks are displayed on the interface. Templates are available to use when processing a quote, and users can also create a custom template to be used for future quotes. Users have the option to easily convert a quote to a sales order or an invoice, depending on preference. Once a quote is converted, it can be viewed, but not edited. If a quote is not necessary, users can simply create a sales order, which can also be converted into an invoice.

Sage 50c also contains two separate template styles to be used when processing invoices; a product invoice or a service invoice. Users also have the option to create custom sales invoice templates that can be used on a regular basis that will better suit the needs of their customers. Users can also track time and expenses and apply the created time ticket directly to an invoice as well.

Users can create recurring invoices as well using a set timetable which can be monthly, quarterly, or yearly, depending on circumstances. Users can also save time by copying existing sales invoice information to a new invoice. Automatic payment reminders can be included in any invoices or statements processed.

For those processing real-time sales, the payment amount can be entered at the same time that the invoice is processed. Users can easily apply payments received to multiple invoices, with Sage 50 applying balances automatically to outstanding balances if desired.

Users can set up invoice preferences such as automatic discounts, finance charges and messaging preferences when setting up the customer in the system, prior to invoices. Users also have the option to void or delete an invoice, though deleting an invoice should be done with caution, as any related transactions such as a quote or sales order will be deleted as well.

Users can set up the appropriate sales tax information during product setup, and add any additional tax information directly to a customer’s account.

When printing an invoice, users can choose from a variety of form styles, and users have the ability to email invoices directly to recipients if desired. Related documents can also be attached to the invoice record in Sage 50c, with users able to view the document at any time. The system also accepts online payments.

Invoicing related reports are available under the accounts receivable reporting option and include a quote register, a sales journal, and sales order journal and an invoice register, which displays the invoice date, quote number, if applicable, customer name, and invoice amount. There is also a sales tax report available.

As a completely integrated accounting/financial system, the invoicing function works well with other areas of Sage 50c. Optional Payroll and HR modules are also available. Sage 50c pricing varies, depending on the version chosen, with prices ranging from $156.00 to $948.00 annually.

Sage 50c Rating – 4.75 Stars
