Deloitte Names New Chairman and CEO of Audit Practice
Deloitte LLP recently announced that Joseph Ucuzoglu has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte & Touche LLP to lead its audit practice. Ucuzoglu previously served as Deloitte’s national managing partner for Government, Regulatory and Professional Matters. In this role, he had responsibility for overseeing Deloitte’s interactions with regulators and elected officials. His experience includes government affairs, public policy, independence and ethics functions. Ucuzoglu previously served as the senior advisor to the Chief Accountant at the Securities & Exchange Commission and graduated from the University of Southern California. He serves on the Board of Directors of the US Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Board of Advisors of the SEC Historical Society and the Executive Committee of USC’s SEC Financial Reporting Institute.

Sobul, Primes & Schenkel Selects New Tax Principal
Sobul, Primes & Schenkel recently announced the promotion of Mark D. Umemoto, CPA to tax principal. Umemoto has extensive taxation experience, particularly in the real estate industry.

PwC Appoints Risk Assurance Managing Director
PwC recently appointed Randy Melby as Risk Assurance Managing Director in its Internal Audit practice, based in Seattle. Melby will focus on building and leading PwC’s regional Banking Internal Audit Services solution and meeting the growing demand of traditional internal audit sourcing services. Prior to his role at PwC, Randy served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at BankUnited, Inc.

Grant Thornton Names New Office Managing Partner
Grant Thornton LLP recently named Jeff Bradford, CPA office managing partner of its Wisconsin practice, where he will oversee marketplace growth and talent development for the firm’s Wisconsin offices. In his current role as partner in Grant Thornton’s national Transaction Advisory Services practice, Bradford provides merger and acquisition advisory services to corporate and private equity dealmakers. Bradford received his master’s degree in accounting and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

IIA Announces Inductees to American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners
The Institute of Internal Auditors announced that six internal audit leaders – Denny Beran, Howard Johnson, Bob Rudloff, Alan Siegfried, Archie McGee and Stan Gross – were inducted into the 2015 class of the American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners. The honor recognizes professionals who have advanced to leadership roles throughout their career, have at least 10 years of internal audit experience and have exemplified ethical conduct, integrity, moral character and service. 

CHAN Healthcare Announces First Woman CEO
Crowe Horwath LLP and CHAN Healthcare recently announced the promotion of Sarah Cole, CPA to chief executive officer of CHAN Healthcare. Cole is currently a partner at Crowe and senior vice president at CHAN Healthcare, a subsidiary of Crowe. Cole, the first female CEO of CHAN Healthcare, has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and currently oversees the internal audit services provided to all of CHAN Healthcare’s internal audit clients.
