2014 Review of Intuit EasyAcct Write-Up

EasyACCT Write-Up is an Intuit branded solution designed as a full-service write-up and payroll system. Though this solution extends beyond the typical year-end compliance reporting needs, the price point is such that many accounting professionals may benefit from the other features. Intuit also offers EasyACCT Write-Up as a scaled down W-2 and 1099 reporting only tool, but not all features are included with that offering.

Basic System Functions – 4.75 Stars

EasyACCT Write-Up provides one platform that handles most write-up and year-end compliance needs. In addition to write-up and payroll functions, the system includes full accounts receivable and payable modules and can track fixed assets.

A client version of EasyACCT is available and allows the accounting professional to receive accounting information periodically. Adjustments made by the accounting professional directly integrate into the clients system.

Reporting – 4.75 Stars

EasyACCT Write-Up handles all year-end compliance through the Information Return System. This module is included in the Professional offering, which is the focus of this review article, but is also available separately for a nominal fee.

EasyACCT Write-Up supports more than 30 different payroll and year-end reporting form types and regularly updates the list. The system can handle live, batch and after-the-fact payroll. Period-end forms, such as 941 and 940, are electronically from within the system.

Reports inside EasyACCT Write-Up are not limited to year-end compliance and include a variety of financial statement presentations. Users have the ability to customize all included reports. Any generated form or report is reviewable on-screen, printable to preprinted forms or plain paper or available for export to PDF file format.

Integration/Import/Export – 4.25 Stars

As an Intuit solution, EasyACCT Write-Up directly integrates with other Intuit solutions. QuickBooks integration includes the ability to transfer vendor data, general ledger transactions, payroll and employee information. EasyACCT Write-Up features export capabilities that directly integrate with Intuit’s two major tax solutions, Lacerte Tax and ProSeries Tax.

Outside of Intuit branded offerings, data import and export is limited. Accounting and payroll data from competitor systems will likely require manual entry.

Help/Support – 4.75 Stars

Intuit provides free phone and email support through the product licensing fees. Support is available through normal business hours, though the noted times are in the Pacific Time Zone. Inside EasyACCT Write-Up is a traditional help menu that provides in-product help as well as inks for email support and other online resources.

Intuit has a unique offering for its online resources. In addition to the typical FAQ and searchable knowledgebase, users have access to an online community. Through this community, users can connect with other users by posting questions or participating in group discussions. The online community also gives users the opportunity to enhance EasyACCT Write-Up functions by suggesting new features directly to the product engineers.

EasyACCT Write-Up Information Return System is included with the Professional edition but is available separately as a scaled back offering. Current pricing for the scaled back system is $299.
