Less than a month has passed since the last government shutdown, but for a few hours early on Friday morning, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) used a Senate rule to shut the federal government down. It was a symbolic gesture, at best.
The shutdown of the federal government on January 20 only lasted two days. But another deadline is looming: Uncle Sam will close up shop again on February 8 if Congress doesn’t take further action.
