The other day, I noticed that there was something interesting going on in my office. I was picking up different devices to use, depending on what tasks I wanted to accomplish. This was never a conscious decision – I never thought: “I shall purchase this ipad so that I can use it in this specific way” – it’s just sort of happened over the last couple years.
Some brands are iconic, like Coca Cola, Disney, Microsoft and Google. Others are just as well-known, but perhaps less respected, like some fast food or alcohol and tobacco companies. While others have an even lower impression... think Enron? But which brands do small businesses trust the most?
I had the opportunity to spend some time with Don Codling, unit head for the FBI’s CyberCrime Division, talking about the state of computer and network security around the globe. It was an interesting conversation, not because there was any real news in the current trends but because the state of cybercrime makes it clear we have to re-think our entire approach to security.
