Victor Shlionsky Joins Lavine, Lofgren, Morris & Engelberg, LLP

Lavine, Lofgren, Morris & Engelberg, LLP, San Diego’s largest independent certified public accounting firm, recently announced that Victor Shlionsky has joined the firm as a tax director. Shlionsky has more than 12 years of experience providing income and estate tax planning services to high net worth individuals and closely held business and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) and the San Diego North County Estate Planning Council.

Shlionsky received his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting, finance and management from Loyola Marymount University and holds a Masters in Taxation from California State University, Northridge.

Keiter Promotes Two to Partner

Keiter, the third largest Certified Public Accounting firm in Richmond, VA, recently announced the promotion of  Amy Rybar Menefee, CPA, CFE and John T. Murray, CPA, to Partners, effective October 1, 2019.

Amy Menefee has served Keiter clients for over 10 years, and has more than 14 years of experience providing audit and consulting services to clients in the insurance, not-for-profit, waste management, and manufacturing industries. 

John Murray has served Keiter clients for over 7 years, and has more than 13 years of experience providing tax planning opportunities and insights for closely-held businesses in real estate, manufacturing & distribution, technology, private equity, financials services and individuals.


RSM Hires James Alex as National Tax Go To Market Leader

RSM US LLP – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – recently announced that James Alex has joined the firm as its national tax go to market leader.

In his new role, Alex will be responsible for developing and leading the execution of RSM’s go to market strategy from a tax perspective. Alex has a Master/LLM in securities law and financial regulation and a Master/LLM in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, and a BA from Virginia Tech, where he graduated cum laude and will be based out of RSM’s Washington, DC office.

EisnerAmper Names 11 New Partners

EisnerAmper LLP, a leading global business advisory firm recently announced the admission of 11 new partners—accounting and advisory professionals who have years of experience successfully serving clients, the firm and the accounting profession.

The new partners are:

  • Stephen Farbish – Stephen is the Tax Group at the Miami, FL, office, and has more than 10 years of experience working with high net worth individuals, closely held businesses and corporations. A member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Board of Governors of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Stephen has a B.S. in Accounting from Florida State University and an M.S. in Taxation from the University of Miami.
  • Denise Finney – Denise is in the Pension Audit Group at the Iselin, NJ, office, and has more than 20 years of experience advising clients on their fiduciary responsibilities relating to defined benefit and defined contribution plans. A member of the American Institute of CPAs, Denise has a B.S. in Accounting from West Chester University.
  • Jaime Gilmore – Jaime is in the Audit and Assurance Services Practice at the Iselin, NJ, office, and has approximately 15 years of experience auditing and consulting for technical accounting matters, revenue recognition, business combinations, and complex equity instruments. Jaime has a B.S. in Business Administration from James Madison University and an M.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Phoenix.
  • Dean Katsoupas – Dean is in the Audit and Assurance Services Practice at the Iselin, NJ, office and has approximately 20 years of experience in SEC reporting and compliance, business combinations, revenue recognition, equity-based compensation, and complex debt and equity financings. Dean has a B.S. in Accounting from The College of New Jersey and an M.B.A. from Western Kentucky University.
  • Sharon Keenan – Sharon is in the Audit Group at the New York City, NY, office and has more than 15 years of experience in serving both public and private companies including SEC reporting, compliance and filing requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations. A member of the American Institute of CPAs, Sharon has an M.S. in Accounting from Baruch College.
  • Amy E. MacFadyen – Amy is in the Not-for-Profit Services Group at the Iselin, NJ, office and has more than 15 years of experience specializing in not-for-profit and commercial auditing. A member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Association for Corporate Growth of New Jersey, she has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island.
  • Kelly M. Mulhearn – Kelly is in the Private Business Services Group at the Philadelphia, PA, office and has more than 15 years of experience working with closely held businesses in a variety of industries, including professional services, manufacturing and distribution, and real estate. A member of the American Institute of CPAs, Kelly has a B.S. in Accounting from St. Joseph’s University.
  • Jeffrey Stomski – Jeffrey is in the Financial Services Group at the New York City, NY, office and has more than 10 years of experience providing audit, tax, and advisory services to clients in the alternative investment industry. A CPA, Jeffrey has a B.S. in Accounting and Economics from Muhlenberg College.
  • Bonnie Sussman – Bonnie is in the Financial Services Group at the New York City, NY, office and has nearly 15 years of accounting, audit and operational experience providing services to private equity funds, venture capital funds, hedge funds, funds of funds, and investment advisors. A member of the American Institute of CPAs, Bonnie has a B.S. in Accounting from Hunter College.
  • Michael Torhan – Michael is in the Real Estate Services Group at the Long Island, NY, office and has approximately 10 years of experience providing accounting and tax services. A member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Urban Land Institute, Michael has a B.S. and an M.B.A. in Accounting from St. John’s University.
  • Evan R. Waxman – Evan is in the Private Business Services Group at the Long Island, NY, office and has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of individual and trust income tax and estate tax compliance.
