Thomson Reuters Enhances Leading Tax and Accounting Information Platform, Checkpoint

New features will deliver efficiency gains and customized experience for tax and accounting professionals

NEW YORK, June 13, 2011—Thomson Reuters has released a series of enhancements for Checkpoint, its industry-leading information platform for tax and accounting professionals, as part of a continual optimization program to evolve the solution to best address customers’ changing business needs. Years of customer feedback have been incorporated into these updates, now making it the most advanced and customizable version of Checkpoint.

The latest enhancements make it easier for tax and accounting professionals to sift information quickly and efficiently and to search through unparalleled content using new navigation options, so that critical decisions can be made confidently, even in a mobile context. Favorite documents can now be organized, flagged, annotated and followed up easily, enabling end-users to tailor Checkpoint’s features to support their unique needs and preferences. Intelligent linking to related source materials, analysis, tools, news and courses leads to even deeper insight on important topics.

Also integrated with Checkpoint, Thomson Reuters is now combining the world-class news and proprietary journalism from Reuters with the expert analysis and insightful content from its industry-renowned PPC, RIA, and WG&L brands. This new solution, Thomson Reuters News & Insight, brings customers unmatched perspective into specific topics shaping the tax and accounting profession.

“The latest upgrade and content additions to Checkpoint are an example of our never-ending commitment to providing our customers with an even more indispensible research companion,” commented Steve Mendelsohn, president of Knowledge Solutions for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. “For example, in the weeks following this updated release of Checkpoint, we’re introducing new GAAP content and analysis, and then a new generation of workflow and decision-making tools in the fall. Later this year, Checkpoint Learning users will benefit from additional e-learning courses, efficiency enhancements and mobile technology. This will help improve industry knowledge and professional opportunities, as well as ease certification compliance, and most importantly, deliver the best-in-class features and performance our customers expect.”

Tax and accounting professionals in accounting firms, corporations, law firms and the government sector have relied on Checkpoint since 1997 to help navigate a highly complex and ever-changing business and compliance landscape.
