Upon graduation from college I was intrigued by the world of content and joined Wolters Kluwer in 2001. The internet had radically altered the business model and the company was re-examining everything. This willingness to question everything opened up huge opportunities. My first large content project was redesigning a portal aimed at legal professionals. I learned that only by truly understanding workflow can we develop commercially successful new products. This passion for understanding workflow and building new products led me to live and work for Wolters Kluwer in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia and now the US. I’m most proud of CCH iQ – a product that helps accountants generate more billable hours by linking news to look at news and developments and automatically identify which customers would be affected by this development. This allowed accountants to use Artificial Intelligence to deliver an enhanced service to their clients with the potential to expand their business.

Service to the community has always been a big part of my life. I am a volunteer at my local IRS VITA site. During the last tax season I made a point of helping file tax returns for low income working families – I do this twice a week; the ability to combine my day-to-day tax work with some hands-on experience to help the community is very rewarding. I also volunteer with the John Howard Association of Illinois – for criminal justice reform. This month, for example, I am going on a prison inspection to help bring attention to the needs of those whom society has forgotten.

Favorite influencer(s) (authors, bloggers, mentors, speakers, etc.)

I am an avid reader of history so my influencers are mostly historians: Timothy Snyder, Anne Applebaum, Paul Kennedy, Anthony Beevor, AJP Taylor, etc.
