Becker Professional Education has launched a new document review simulation (DRS) as part of its CPA Exam Review. This new type of task-based simulation, created by the American Institute of CPAs, will begin appearing on some CPA Exams this year. Becker is a a provider of professional education and a part of DeVry Education Group.

DRS aims to increase exam authenticity by presenting real-world scenarios newly licensed CPAs might be expected to handle on the job. Each DRS presents a realistic document as well as related source documents such as memos, bank statements and other exhibits that require review.

DRS will debut in July 2016 on the Financial, Audit and Regulation sections of some, but not all, CPA Exams. To ensure that students are fully prepared, Becker Professional Education has updated its CPA Exam Review now to reflect the new format. Becker continually updates its course to ensure that content mirrors what candidates will see during the actual exam.

In addition to launching the course updates, Becker will host a webinar on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. CT to provide a guided tour of the DRS. The webinar, aimed at students, educators and other industry professionals, will be led by Michael Brown, CPA, CGMA, CMA. Brown is Becker’s national manager of faculty and distance learning and has extensive experience in public accounting, corporate accounting and education. The tour will cover how the new simulations work and provide strategies for tackling them on the exam.

We are constantly updating our CPA Exam Review course to be reflective of changes in the CPA Exam,” said Angie Brown, CPA, director of accounting curriculum at Becker Professional Education. “We want to be sure our students are confident and prepared on exam day by updating our course materials and providing additional educational opportunities like our upcoming webinar to help everyone gain a full understanding of CPA Exam changes as they happen.”
