Porte Brown LLC, a Chicago area accounting and consulting firm will again participate in the Accounting Intern Scholarship Program (AISP), the company has announced.

The AISP is a ‘hands-on’ working accounting internship program designed to introduce students to the cultures and people of multiple CPA firms and expose them to what they do on a daily basis. It is a paid summer internship program with a stipend of $2,500 paid directly to the school to be applied towards the next semester tuition costs.

The 2015 AISP Summer Session will begin the first week of June. It is a unique opportunity for eight to ten well qualified interns to go through a two month real-life educational experience that ranges from applied learning in Quick Books to interactions with senior staff and partners. Their experience will include development of practical skills like business networking as well as learning about the CPA industry from noted speakers like Mark Rosenberg, originator of the nationally recognized Rosenberg Survey.

The firms participating in the 2015 AISP program along with Porte Brown include Weltman Bernfield, The Hechtman Group, BIK & Co, Horwich Coleman Levin, and Bronswick Reicin Pollack. College accounting students are eligible if they are a student entering their senior year, a spring graduate seeking on-the-job experience before interviewing for their first position in a CPA firm, or an accounting student in their first year of graduate school. Interns must have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in their accounting courses and must intend on completing their 150 hour requirement in order to obtain CPA certification by spring 2016 or before.

The application deadline to apply for the 2015 AISP session is January 31, 2015.
