Bloomberg BNA and global legal services firm Mayer Brown will co-host a tax conference for energy companies focusing on maximizing value.  The conference will be held in Houston on November 17-18 at the J.W. Tax, Finance and Legal Departments at multinational energy corporations and their advisors are in a unique position to provide value by impacting the organization’s bottom line.  They are tasked with helping to effectively manage tax rates, thrive in a post-BEPS world, evaluate and implement best practices in the transfer pricing area, deal with the possibility of audits and legal challenges, structure the organization to maximize value, and deal with tax issues related to operations across the globe.  Conference panels include:

  • BEPS: Action Plan Update and its Potential Impacts on Shareholder Value
  • Tax Issues Associated with Financial Products Used in the Energy Industry
  • Cross-Border Aspects and Issues Involved in Structuring and Financing Deals

“Together with Mayer Brown, we have pulled together a ‘best of the best’ slate of speakers uniquely positioned to address the challenging tax and finance issues facing today’s energy companies,” said Scott Mozarsky, President, Cross Platform Businesses, Bloomberg BNA.  “This conference will help tax and financial executives tackle the most pressing issues facing their organizations while giving them the intelligence they need to contribute to their organization’s bottom line.”

“This conference is refreshingly different from other tax conferences,” said Shawn O’Brien, Tax Partner, Mayer Brown.  “We have worked hard to assemble high level, energy industry tax executives to share their experience with complex tax issues facing energy companies.”

Among the confirmed keynote speakers at the conference are:

  • Kathy Robbins, Industry Director, Natural Resources & Construction, Internal Revenue Service
  • Samuel Maruca, Former Director, Transfer Pricing Operations, LB&I, Internal Revenue Service
