A partner with the accounting firm Marcum LLP has been selected to co-chair the 2014 AICPA/AAML National Conference on Divorce. Sharyn Maggio, an Advisory Services Partner in the Roseland and Neptune, NJ, offices of Marcum will lead the the biennial conference of the leading organizations for CPAs and divorce law practitioners. The conference will take place in Las Vegas from April 24-25.
Maggio will also be a featured speaker in two conference sessions, The Hide and Seek of Executive Compensation: Finding the Promises, Obtaining the Payments, Avoiding the Penalties and Pitfalls, and Women Are Great Expert Witnesses: Embracing the Differences, Gaining the Advantage. The conference is produced by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).
As a CPA, she has more than 25 years of experience practicing in litigation support, forensic accounting, and business valuation with a special emphasis on matrimonial litigation. She is certified in both family and civil mediation and collaborative divorce and incorporates these areas into her practice. Maggio also has extensive experience in tax and financial planning.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maggio is the principal author of the practice aid A CPA's Guide to Family Law Services for the AICPA. She is a past member of the Forensic & Litigation Services Committee of the AICPA where she chaired the AICPA Family Law Task Force. Maggio was one of the founding members of the AICPA Certified in Financial Forensics Credential Committee. She is also a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where she is a member of the Matrimonial Accounting Interest Group as well as the Litigation Services Interest Group. She is a past leader of the Matrimonial Accounting Interest Group.
