Gail Perry, a Certified Public Accountant and longtime accounting industry thought leader and writer, will join CPA Practice Advisor as editor-in-chief effective December 8, 2013. The announcement was made today during The Sleeter Group’s annual Solutions13 conference in Las Vegas.

Perry has written 30 books on accounting for professionals, small business owners and individuals, maintains a small tax practice and is a noted speaker at many accounting tradeshows and events each year.

“The addition of Gail to lead the editorial mission of CPA Practice Advisor shows the dedicated focus we put on providing tax and accounting professionals with the most comprehensive and reliable technology reviews and coverage of the issues affecting their practice,” said CPA Practice Advisor publisher Jim Baker. “We are honored to be able to bring her wealth of knowledge and direct practice experience into our team.”

Perry worked her way through journalism school at Indiana University as a bookkeeper, then returned to Illinois State University to study accounting and earn a CPA credential. She worked for the Chicago tax department of Deloitte, later as a columnist for the Indianapolis Star newspaper, then most recently served as publisher and editor-in-chief of AccountingWeb.

“I'm really thrilled about the opportunity to join the team at CPA Practice Advisor,” Perry said. “It's an exciting time in the accounting profession as everyone races to learn about the latest technology solutions. We are well positioned to help make that learning experience easier and more meaningful.”

“This is a game changer for CPA Practice Advisor,” said Doug Sleeter, president and CEO of The Sleeter Group, a technology consulting group that helps small businesses and accountants. “Gail is a true professional and trusted resource for the profession and their clients.”
