The Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) and The Ohio CPA Foundation, in partnership with the Ohio chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), are helping Ohio minority high school students explore accounting and business career paths through the Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP-Ohio).
The program will be held June 9-14 at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in Columbus. The application deadline is April 1, 2013.
This all-expense paid live-in program will host 45 top-performing high school students who will explore business and accounting careers and compete for college scholarships. The week includes interactive workshops, tours of local businesses and mentoring sessions with leading minority business professionals.
“ACAP-Ohio gives students the opportunity to experience all that the accounting and finance world has to offer,” said Kevin Johnson, ACAP-Ohio 2013 Executive Director. “Students come away with a working knowledge of what a business career can do for them, thanks to the personal interaction with business leaders the program provides.”
ACAP-Ohio is made possible through the support of corporate sponsorships and grants. Interested students must submit an application, a 200-word essay, one letter of reference and an official high school transcript by April 1. Applications can be completed online at www.FutureCPA.com. ACAP-Ohio, now in its 18th year, is presented by The Ohio Society of CPAs and its charitable affiliate, The Ohio CPA Foundation in partnership with the Ohio chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants. The Accountancy Board of Ohio provides major funding for the program as part of its initiative to encourage diversity in the accounting profession.
The Ohio CPA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that funds student financial literacy programs and raises awareness for accounting and CPA careers.
