Nominations sought for family business awards in Wisconsin

Nominations are being accepted until April 13, 2013, for the annual Wisconsin Family Business of the Year awards.

Are you part of a family-owned business in Wisconsin that has had a positive impact on your community? Then here’s your chance to get some well-deserved recognition.

Nominations are being accepted until April 13, 2013, for the annual Wisconsin Family Business of the Year awards. A Grand Award will be given to a family business in the small category (under 50 employees), the medium category (50 to 99 employees) and the large (100 or more). In addition, special awards will be given to companies that excel in particular areas.

Businesses are encouraged to nominate themselves. But they also can be nominated by consultants, vendors, clients or friends.

A panel of judges will select the winners. The awards will be presented May 9 at a banquet in Madison.

The program, now in its 10th year, has honored 65 companies throughout the state that have improved their communities, their industries and the economy. During the previous nine years, more than 200 companies have been nominated, including small “mom and pop” stores, produce farms, trucking companies, travel agencies and coffee shops. All together they have employed more than 33,000 people.

The awards are sponsored by Smith & Gesteland certified public accounting, First Business Bank and Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek law firm.
