AICPA Names Director of Media Relations
The American Institute of CPAs recently announced the appointment of Jay Hyde as director of media relations. Hyde will be responsible for communicating AICPA’s views on legislative and regulatory issues that affect the accounting profession. He has extensive experience as a public affairs specialist, working for the Center for Audit Quality, the National Governors Association, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, the American Automobile Manufacturers Association and Burson-Marsteller. Hyde graduated from Stonehill College.

Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith recently promoted Stephanie Huovinen, CPA, CVA to senior manager; Amy Ewing, Melanie Shores and Stephen Von Hagel to manager; Kate Fluker and Julie Phillips to senior accountant; and Tyler Crawford, Dan Post, AJ VanderWoude and Graham Travers to staff accountant B.

EisnerAmper LLP recently announced it has appointed Michael Aversa Partner-in-Charge of its Private Business Services Practice. Aversa’s thirty years of experience include audit, review, tax and business consulting, international accounting and private and public accounting. 

Elliot Davis, LLC Expands Its Staff
Elliot Davis, LLC has hired Justin Wilkes, CPA as assurance senior manager, Liz Hsu as manager and Sophia Qi as staff associate. Wilkes will have responsibility for providing accounting and assurance services to clients for employee benefit plan audits and SEC filings in the manufacturing and distribution, transportation and not-for-profit industries. Hsu and Qi will provide tax, assurance, financial reporting and outsourced controller services to US-based subsidiaries of foreign-owned companies.

Leone, McDonnell & Roberts Adds to Its Professional Staff
Monique Welch and Mark Wesolaski recently joined the staff at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association as staff accountants. Welch graduated from the University of New Hampshire with her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an option in accounting. Wesolaski received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting and his Master of Science degree in Accounting.
