Peachtree by Sage — Peachtree Premium Construction Accounting 2012
Another exciting new feature in 2012 is Sage Peachtree Business Intelligence. This add-on application allows users to create custom reports in Excel that contain excellent drill-down capability, as well as the ability to combine several reports into a single report.
Peachtree currently offers three payroll options: Simple, Select and Managed. Tax tables are included with many support plans, or can be purchased separately.
Peachtree also offers solid audit trail functionality that tracks all system usage including system user, and date and time of all system transactions posted. User security is offered at three levels. Module-level security is also available.
CONSTRUCTION/CONTRACTOR–SPECIFIC FEATURES:
Peachtree allows users to enter estimated job costs into each job or job phase as needed. An Estimates history provides detailed information on all previous estimates entered since the original estimate was processed.
An excellent tool for project managers, the Job List provides users with access to detailed information on every job entered in Peachtree. Job phases, change order processing and customer history can also be viewed. Managers can track jobs using a variety of methods, including cost codes, phases or description. Managers can enter change orders for any job already in the system.
Peachtree easily tracks customer, vendor, employee and subcontractor information. Historical data is available for each category, and sub contractors can be set up in the regular vendor file and tracked as needed. Subcontractor insurance can also be tracked, and the labor burden assessment allows for tracking of employee overhead costs to any job. Expense accounts can also be entered and maintained for each subcontractor entered in the system.
Peachtree’s Inventory function utilizes LIFO, FIFO and Special Unit Valuation of any inventory products. Inventory can also be tracked by using user-defined codes, and the inventory adjustment feature allows adjustments to inventory levels as needed. Serialized inventory is also available.
REPORTING & MANAGEMENT TOOLS:
All Peachtree reports offer a certain degree of customization capability. Job costing report options are good, with the Job Ledger providing a comprehensive view of each particular job. The Work in Progress report provides project managers with an excellent tool for tracking job costs through each phase. The Business Intelligence Tool creates ‘smart’ reports, and users can easily create custom templates for letters, invoices, statements and sales orders. Reports can be exported to Excel, saved in a PDF format, and can be emailed directly to recipients from the report screen. Peachtree offers field workers a remote access application that offers system access to anyone who has high-speed internet access.
INTEGRATION/IMPORT/EXPORT:
Peachtree contains an import/export filter that makes it easy to select the data needed. All files must be in ASCII (.csv) format. QuickBooks data can also be converted into Peachtree. Peachtree also integrates with a wide variety of third-party applications.
HELP/SUPPORT:
The system contains a comprehensive Help function that is easily accessible from anywhere in the product. Support documents such as the Getting Started guide help new users get up and running quickly. Numerous product tutorials are also available, and links to the Peachtree customer support center are provided, as well. Product updates and enhancements are available on the Peachtree website and can be downloaded at the user’s convenience. Peachtree also offers a variety of U.S.-based support options that include both telephone and email support.
