Phoenix Phive Provides Live & A-T-F Payroll

Phoenix Phive is a longtime provider of payroll-related software, supplies and forms. The company’s payroll solutions include the simple Payroll for Windows, which is designed for low-volume employee needs, and the more comprehensive and scalable Industrial Strength Payroll for Windows application.

Industrial Strength Payroll for Windows provides live and after-the-fact payroll processing for up to 998 employer entities with up to 5,000 employees each, making the system geared toward payroll service providers with multiple clients or entrepreneurs managing multiple separate entities. With the program, users can set up multiple pay frequencies within employers, including daily, weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly and monthly. Tax tables are included for all states and Washington D.C., plus New York City. The program’s multi-state capabilities support up to three states per employer, with two states allowed per employee. It supports departmental reporting as well as multi-year processing functions.

Unlimited earnings types and customizable employee deduction categories allow users to track virtually any type of pre- or post-tax withholding. Third-party payment tools can produce checks for lien holders, courts, tax authorities and other recipients. Reporting functions include federal forms 940, 941, 941-SS, 943 and 944, plus state wage and tax reports for AZ, CA, MI, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX and WA. Reports can be output to plain paper or pre-printed stock, depending on state requirements, and the vendor offers MagMedia filings for SSA and IRS. Full W-2 processing is included, along with the option to add 1099 capabilities.

Industrial Strength Payroll for Windows costs $495, and a site license can be added for $225. Additional add-on modules include a MICR Encoder for printing checks to blank paper, the annual tax table update service, and the Forms service, which provides a library of printable state and federal form updates. All downloads and updates are now sent by email unless the customer specifically asks for a CD. Phoenix Phive offers print and electronic-filing versions of its 1099 package.
