Karyn Hartke, CPA has been named the 2018-2019 National President of Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA). She is a member of the Northeast Florida Chapter in Jacksonville, Florida. Founded in 1938, AFWA will celebrate its 80th Anniversary this year. AFWA celebrates a long tradition of helping women Connect – Advance – Lead.

“AFWA is such a unique organization empowering women both professionally and personally. I feel honored to have the opportunity to be a part of its leadership,” says Hartke.

Hartke went on to say, “Focusing on our history, I have chosen the leaf as a symbol for this year. It symbolizes hope, renewal, revival and growth. Yet as we focus on growth and renewal, we are planning to build on the strong foundation and roots that our founder, Ida Broo, and the nine women in Chicago gave us. It is important to ‘turn over a new leaf’ so we can grow and thrive in our current environment and remain relevant.”

An AFWA member since 2008, Hartke has served on various committees at the local and national levels of the organization.

“There are a lot of exciting things happening at AFWA and with Karyn’s leadership, the organization is positioned to expand and grow exponentially. We have a strong volunteer base that is dedicated to improving and growing the organization, ” says Cindy Stanley, Executive Director of AFWA.
